Amanda Shaw and The Cute Guys

Ground Zero Blues Club Biloxi & Restaurant 814 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS, United States

Cajun influence is integral to understanding Amanda Shaw’s music, but her sound is all her own. A fiddle player since childhood, she grew up in New Orleans with early years steeped in both fais do-dos and a vibrant mélange of jazz, blues, funk and rock ‘n’ roll. By the time she was 15, Shaw had a record deal with Rounder Records, and in the years since, she has appeared as part of a number of notable pop culture touchstones, including Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the Today Show's Roker-thon, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She is the recipient of prestigious honors including the Big Easy Award for Best Female Entertainer and is a Louisiana Music Hall of Famer. Shaw has released an impressive nine EPs and albums to date, and she is gearing up to release a new project in 2025. This time, she is mixing in a new accolade: working with producer Kent Wells, a longtime collaborator and bandleader for Dolly Parton. The result links traditional Cajun music with modern elements for something that’s decidedly Americana and distinctly Amanda Shaw.

Tickets are $25 online in advance and $35 at the door. Food for purchase by Nolan’s Catering and a cash/credit bar. Sunny War - the Los Angeles-based street singer, guitarist, and roots music revolutionary grew up in Nashville, where she searched for her own roots, looking first to the blues she heard from her mother’s boyfriend and then learning from a local guitarist. Moving to Los Angeles in her teens, she searched for herself in the LA punk scene, playing house shows with FIDLAR and shoplifting DVDs from big box stores to trade at Amoeba Records for 80s punk albums. But here, too, she found herself on the outside, working to bridge her foundation in country blues and American roots guitar traditions with the punk scene she called home. She first made her name with this work, bringing a wickedly virtuosic touch on the fingerstyle guitar that sprang from her own self-discoveries on the instrument.  Sunny War played the historical 100 Men Hall at its annual Booker Fest in 2021 then went onto […]
