Blue Mountain Band

October 22 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Bay Saint Louis, MS – The 100 Men Hall invites the community to special concert with Blue Mountain Band, a hill country blues and alt-country experience that is free to the community on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 7:30PM. There will be food for purchase by Big Bertha’s Kitchen and Catering and a cash/credit bar.

Blue Mountain was formed in 1991 by husband-and-wife team, Cary Hudson and Laurie Stirratt. The duo drew their name from a small town near their home base of Oxford, Mississippi, where the band members first began soaking up the region’s rich hill country blues scene and incorporating their earlier influences while growing up in the south in the 70’s and 80’s.

Blue Mountain was signed to indie label Roadrunner Records and in 1995 released “Dog Days”, an album cut mostly live in the studio with drummer Frank Coutch and producer Eric “Roscoe” Ambel at The Studio, owned by Lou Whitney in Springfield, MO. The album comprised many songs from their first eponymous release and garnered the band critical success in alt-country circles. Two more albums followed on Roadrunner, Home Grown in 1997, and Tales of a Traveler in 1999. An album of all public-domain roots covers, simply titled Roots followed in 2001, before their live release, Tonight It’s Now or Never in 2002.

All the while, the band toured constantly, playing venues in the US, Canada and Europe. On August 19, 2008, they released Midnight in Mississippi, an album of original material, as well as an album of re-recorded Blue Mountain originals entitled Omnibus. Blue Mountain continues to perform regularly, with upcoming shows planned for the fall of 2025.

There will be food for purchase both nights by Big Bertha’s Kitchen and Catering. Bertha began cooking at four years old and knew at 18 years of age that food was her passion. Bertha and her family owned a full-service restaurant in Slidell, and seven years ago she came to Bay Saint Louis to start her own catering company, Big Bertha’s Kitchen and Catering. Her specialty is soul food, which is why flavor is her main ingredient. The 100 Men Hall’s membership organization, 100 WOMEN DBA, has a mentorship program to uplift women of color in business in Hancock County – Big Bertha is our star mentee!

The historical 100 Men Hall, a famed stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit, a Must See Venue by Rolling Stone Magazine, winner of the 2024 MS Governor’s Award for Excellence for Arts in the Community, a rare site on the MS Blues Trail, is maintained and preserved under a 501c3 nonprofit organization (Hundred Members Debating Benevolent Association, est. 1894). The Hall is supported by its membership organization 100 WOMEN DBA, as well as from the generosity of sponsors and donors. The 100 Men Hall is the only endowed African American landmark in Mississippi.
